The housing rental subsidy for internally displaced persons (IDPs) will be available starting January 29, 2025. This initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden for families who have been forced to leave their homes due to war or occupation.
As noted by the Pension Fund, the program is designed for two years, during which an experimental project will be in place to improve living conditions for the most vulnerable groups of citizens.
Who can receive the housing rental subsidy?
- Individuals who have been forcibly displaced from temporarily occupied territories or areas where hostilities are taking place.
- Individuals without their own housing suitable for living in the controlled territory of Ukraine (lost or destroyed housing).
- Individuals who are not receiving other financial assistance to cover living expenses of 2,000 to 3,000 UAH.
What are the other conditions and specifics for obtaining the subsidy?
Housing rental costs exceeding 20% of the family's income – are eligible to apply for the subsidy. The subsidy amount will be calculated not only based on income but also on the rental prices in the locality.
Family income of less than 5,840 UAH per person — the state may cover a higher percentage of the rental cost.
A mandatory condition for granting the subsidy is the registration of an official rental agreement between landlords and tenants. A typical contract can be obtained:
- At the branches of the Pension Fund.
- On the official website of the Pension Fund.
- At centers for providing administrative services (CNAP).
The housing rental subsidy is granted for a period of up to six months, with the possibility of extension, but not more than twice in a row. In total, one family can receive the subsidy for a year, provided all program requirements are met.
Previously, "Telegraph" reported on the subsidy for housing and communal services. It can be received simultaneously with the rental subsidy. It is primarily paid to a card, but cash payments are also available.
