Fire breaks out in Kyiv during air raid: what we know (photos) - updated.

People were advised to stay in safe locations until the alert was lifted.

Early in the morning on Wednesday, November 20, explosions were heard in Kyiv. Air defense systems were engaged against Russian drones. At 8:08, the air raid alert was lifted in Kyiv.

"Attention! Air defense is active in the capital. Stay in shelters until the air raid alert is lifted."warned the head of the Kyiv Military Administration, Sergey Popko, at 5:45 AM.

Update 8:56 The Kyiv Military Administration reported that after a thorough inspection and clarification of the information, the debris from the Russian drone falling in the Dnipro district has not been confirmed. The fire in a residential building was caused by a household appliance. The fire has been extinguished.

Update 8:15 The head of the Kyiv Military Administration, Sergey Popko, informed that as a result of the drone attack, there was debris falling in the Dnipro district of Kyiv. One of the apartments in a multi-story residential building caught fire. It is being clarified whether there are any casualties.

Update 8:00 The Kyiv City Military Administration reported at 07:55 that air defense was active in Kyiv again. An enemy drone was detected over the city.

An explosion was heard in the suburbs of the capital at 6:07. This was reported by a correspondent from "Telegraph."

Prior to this, the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine warned that an enemy drone was moving towards Kyiv from the south. At 5:52, they added that the Russian drone was located in the southwestern part of the capital.

The Russians are attacking not only the capital but also other regions of Ukraine. The situation as of 6:03:

  • enemy UAVs in the south of Sumy region — heading north;
  • enemy UAVs in the north of Kharkiv region — heading south;
  • enemy UAV in the south of Chernihiv region — heading northeast;
  • enemy UAVs in Kyiv region and Vinnytsia region — heading west.

As reported by "Telegraph," the USA is preparing a new aid package for Ukraine worth 275 million dollars. This will include ammunition as well as Javelin anti-tank missiles.
