"Temporary phenomenon": In Georgia, the sanctions against pro-Russian authorities were dismissed with disdain.

The so-called Secretary General of the pro-Russian party "Georgian Dream" and the Mayor of Tbilisi, Kakha Kaladze, dismissed the sanctions imposed on several Georgian politicians and officials. A supporter of pro-Russian oligarch Bidzina Ivanishvili claimed that this is merely a "temporary phenomenon."

This was reported by Echo of the Caucasus. Kaladze stated that all of this is expected to end on January 20, when the new administration in the USA begins and Donald Trump comes to power. However, he did not explain why this should happen.

"The reality in Europe and Georgia will be different… What is happening today has no connection to European values. Today marks the peak of injustice. We are being led to believe that black is white, and they are throwing dust in our eyes. All this will end, and a just Europe will return, which our country aspires to,” he declared.

It is worth noting that the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, imposed sanctions against several Georgian politicians, including the Mayor of Tbilisi and former Dynamo football player Kakha Kaladze. In response, he criticized Zelensky.

Additionally, former football player Mikhail Kavelashvili has been declared the winner of the presidential elections held on December 14 in Georgia. He was the only candidate on the ballot, receiving votes from 224 members of the electoral college, the absolute majority of which was held by "Georgian Dream."

The current President of Georgia, Salome Zourabichvili, considers these elections illegitimate, and they are also not recognized by opposition parties. After it became known that the electoral college supported Kavelashvili's candidacy, Zourabichvili spoke with people gathered outside the Parliament building. She stated that there were no elections, and she does not plan to leave her position.
