Daily coffee or $1,000 in your account: which would you choose?

Coffee has become a daily habit for many Ukrainians. But have you ever thought about how much money you could save by giving up your favorite drink? Let's calculate it together.

The average price of a cup of coffee in Ukrainian cafes is around 70 hryvnias. Currently, the exchange rate for the dollar is approximately 42 hryvnias. So, to save 1000 dollars, you need to set aside about 42,000 hryvnias.

If you buy one cup of coffee each day for 70 hryvnias, your monthly expenses will be about 2100 hryvnias. Dividing 42,000 by 2100 gives us 20 months or roughly 1.5 years without coffee. If you purchase two cups a day, you could save 1000 dollars in just 10 months.

What about making coffee at home? If we assume that a cup of homemade coffee costs 20 hryvnias, you would need to skip 2100 cups.

Of course, it’s not easy to eliminate coffee pleasures from your daily life, but it's interesting to see how much you could save by simply changing a few small daily habits. Perhaps the next time you find yourself in line for a latte, you'll remember that this cup is part of your future financial cushion.
