The Security Service of Ukraine has detained a prominent lawyer from Dnipro, who was adjusting Russian missile strikes on the city and attempting to flee Ukraine. This was reported by "Vідомо," citing the SBU and the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
"Counterintelligence officers and investigators from the Security Service prevented the escape of one of the most covert FSB agents in Dnipropetrovsk. The individual turned out to be a well-known local lawyer who was correcting missile strikes by the Russian Federation on the regional center.
Employees of the SBU apprehended the suspect while he was trying to flee our state at the "Krakovets" checkpoint, through which he was attempting to exit the country," the statement reads.
According to the investigation, the lawyer maintained friendly relations with an acquaintance who holds a leadership position in one of the so-called "district administrations" in the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea and has connections with FSB employees. The Dnipro resident's associate acted as a liaison between the suspect and the Russian curator.
The suspect sent information via the Telegram messenger about the locations of drone manufacturing and storage, armaments, and the consequences of the enemy's missile strikes. It has been established that to inflict maximum damage, he provided the FSB not just general coordinates of the enterprise, but precise markings of the locations of technological workshops and drone storage facilities.
It has been documented that in December 2023, the enemy launched a missile strike on Dnipro using strategic air-launched cruise missiles X-101. As a result, several military, critical, and civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged, 6 people were killed, and 30 were injured. The lawyer informed his acquaintance about the consequences of the shelling.
It has also been established that the suspect posted a message in one of the messenger groups, justifying the armed aggression of the Russian Federation and the temporary occupation of part of Ukraine's territory, which has been confirmed by a forensic linguistic examination.
During searches of the detainee's home and office, mobile phones and SIM cards containing evidence of his explosive activities in favor of Russia were seized.
Investigators from the Security Service informed him of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
Part 2 of Article 111 (treason committed in a state of martial law);
Part 2 of Article 436-2 (justification, recognition as lawful, denial of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).
Currently, the perpetrator has been placed in custody as a preventive measure. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
