Kyiv may face power outages as emergency shutdowns are being implemented in the city.

On Monday, February 17, emergency power outages were implemented in Kyiv and the surrounding areas. This decision was made due to the critical load on the energy system.

This was reported by the press service of DTEK. It was noted that the outages are being implemented at the direction of Ukrenergo.

The latter provided the reason for the emergency power outages.

"The reason for the increased restriction measures is the consequences of Russian attacks on energy facilities," emphasized Ukrenergo.

Initially, industrial enterprises and businesses are left without electricity. Residential consumers are only disconnected in rare cases, apart from emergency situations.

"The situation in the energy system may change. Keep an eye on updates from the distribution system operators (oblenergo)", the company added.

We remind you to reduce electricity consumption during peak hours (morning and evening) whenever possible. Energy experts advise against turning on all electrical appliances at the same time, as this can create additional strain on the grid.
