We invite you to explore a review of the week’s events and materials, for which we have compiled a brief description in this article.
ZRPK "Pantsir"
After the first photos of the Embraer 190 passenger plane surfaced online, it became clear that any "official" version from Russia regarding its crash due to birds or other reasons is nonsense, and the aircraft was shot down by a surface-to-air missile, as indicated by the damage to its tail section.
1It is known that the aircraft was on a flight from Baku to Grozny, a city that has recently faced attacks from Ukrainian long-range drones, which were intercepted by the ZRPK "Pantsir." We discuss the "artificial intelligence" on the "Pantsir".
BRSD "Oreshnik"
On November 21 of this year, the Russian occupying forces struck Ukraine with a medium-range ballistic missile of the "Oreshnik" type, and subsequently, the results of the investigation into the wreckage of this weapon appeared, disproving the words of the Russian leader, Putin, about the latest armaments.
2In particular, one of the components displays a serial date and production number - as far back as April 12, 2017. We provide more details about the BRSD "Oreshnik," which is at least 7 years old.
Ballistic Missile of the PRC
The PRC has once again tested its anti-ship ballistic missile, with the trials taking place at a special range where the Chinese military conducts "rehearsals" for war against the USA in the Pacific Ocean.
3Recently, footage of an unknown missile emerged online, which has a significant warhead and detonates above a model of a ship. We explain how the Chinese used a ballistic missile to destroy a model of a US aircraft carrier moving along 40-km tracks through the desert.
Anti-Aircraft Self-Propelled Gun MDAC
BAE Systems may receive a contract from the US military to create a prototype of a 155-mm anti-aircraft self-propelled gun named MDAC, whose primary mission will be to combat targets such as drones and cruise missiles.
4As of today, the US believes that this company is the only one capable of producing such a system, so an atypical OTA mechanism will be used to finalize the contract. We discuss the self-propelled gun MDAC, which will shoot down drones and missiles with hyperprojectiles.
F-16 Fighters
Colombia may ultimately purchase used American F-16 fighters, with the United States expressing its readiness for such a deal, provided there are direct negotiations without any "backroom" or corrupt dealings.
5Moreover, it is known that under one scenario, if Colombia buys eight F-16 fighters, the US might gift an additional 16 aircraft. We explain that the US indeed wants to sell or even gift used F-16s to Colombia,
while also hinting at some issues.
