U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he spoke with Chinese leader Xi Jinping after his inauguration. However, he did not specify when this conversation took place.
According to Bloomberg, this information comes from an interview Trump gave to Fox News. It is noted that both leaders also officially spoke on January 17, just a few days before the inauguration.
"Yes, I talked to him, and I also spoke with his people. His people come all the time. We have very good personal relationships," the U.S. President said.
At the same time, Trump did not clarify in the interview when exactly this conversation happened, and the White House did not respond to the publication's request.
"I really like him, President Xi," Trump said.
According to him, he "was not in a hurry" to talk with Xi on the day when the administration imposed a 10% tariff on Chinese imports. In response, Beijing announced a broad package of economic measures targeting the U.S. last week.
It is worth noting that China continues to cooperate with Russia, and the country's leader maintains contact with Kremlin head Vladimir Putin. This year, Xi Jinping will visit Moscow to celebrate the 80th anniversary of victory in World War II. Besides the Chinese leader, five other high-ranking guests will also attend the parade in Moscow.
Previously, "Telegraph" reported that Trump reposted a statement from Putin on his Truth page. In it, he mentioned that Europe "will bow to the master."
