В Никополе осудили пьяного вора, который украл детский самокат.

Back in November 2024, a drunken man stole a child's scooter that was parked outside the "Avrora" store in Nikopol while a boy went inside to buy a flashlight, reports "Vidomo" citing Dnepr.info.

In court, the accused explained that he had been intoxicated that day. He intended to enter the store to purchase some pencils but realized during his shopping that he had no money to pay for the items because someone had stolen his cash.

Afterward, the man exited the store and spotted a scooter in the vestibule, which he took for a ride. He couldn't recall what happened next. He returned home barefoot and without clothes.

The boy testified in court that he had left the scooter outside the store as usual while he went in to buy a flashlight. The schoolboy recognized the man who had stolen his scooter in the store but was unable to stop the thief.

The child's mother noted that the suspect in the theft agreed to reimburse the cost of the scooter, so there are no further claims, and she requests the court to make a decision in the case at its discretion.

The court found the man guilty of theft and sentenced him to five years in prison with a two-year probation period.

Additionally, the convicted individual was ordered to compensate 378 hryvnias for court costs.
