As of October, how much weaponry has been contracted for Ukraine under the USAI program, and how were the funds allocated?

Under the USAI initiative, weapons are procured directly from manufacturers. Previously, the U.S. Department of Defense provided detailed information on the quantity of various weaponry that has already been contracted.
Сколько оружия для Украины в рамках USAI было заключено по контракту на октябрь и как распределены средства?

On Friday, December 20, it was reported that the United States is set to announce another package of military assistance under the USAI (Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative), which is expected to be the last one for this year within this program. It is noted that its value will be approximately $1.2 billion and will include missiles for air defense systems as well as artillery munitions.

This was reported by Reuters. Recall that USAI involves ordering weapons for Ukraine directly from defense industry enterprises.

It is worth mentioning that the previous package under USAI was allocated on December 7, notable for its total of $1 billion, which included three items in the final list, and we detailed why it deserves special attention.

In light of the announcement of the new and likely final USAI package, we would like to draw attention to an interesting document from the U.S. Department of Defense, which is publicly available and contains information on how the funds were distributed under the previously allocated contracts within the USAI.

First of all, it is important to note that the infographic presents data as of October 16 of this year. For instance, while a total of $28.6 billion in military assistance packages has been announced under USAI (since February 2022), contracts have been issued for $21.2 billion. Additionally, $4.1 billion remained in reserve, considering the total allocated funds for USAI amounting to $32.7 billion.

However, the most intriguing aspect of the presented materials is how the $21.2 billion, for which contracts have already been issued to defense companies, has been distributed. All the details are provided in the table below:

As we can see, the largest portion of funds went to manufacturers of air defense systems and their missiles, amounting to agreements with several different suppliers totaling $4.934 billion, with more than half of these contracts, worth $2.528 billion, being signed between August 8 and October 16 of this year. Notably, surface-to-air missile systems NASAMS are separately listed with a value of $1.132 billion.

A significant portion of the funds was also allocated for the procurement of munitions—$1.855 billion for 155 artillery munitions and another $2.577 billion for other types of munitions.

Additionally, $4.506 billion was allocated to the "other" category, which includes personal protective equipment, medical supplies, services, and importantly—spare parts for the maintenance of supplied weapons.

The list also includes a variety of other weapons that have already been contracted for our Defense Forces, including HIMARS missile systems, anti-drone systems, various unmanned aerial vehicles, radar stations, and more.
