Turkey is being swept by snowstorms—authorities have closed schools, and officials are taking vacation (epic videos).

Heavy snowfall in Istanbul has prompted local authorities to suspend the educational process across all institutions. This decision was announced by the governor of Istanbul province, Davut Gül, on the social network X.

According to the regional head, the snowfall continues to blanket the city and significantly complicates daily life due to low temperatures. Meteorological services are predicting further deterioration of weather conditions and a drop in temperatures throughout the city.

In addition to closing educational institutions, Istanbul authorities have granted administrative leave to certain categories of civil servants. Specifically, on February 12, employees with disabilities, chronic illnesses, and pregnant women may not be required to report to work.

Winter weather has also affected other European countries. In the United Kingdom, the lowest temperature in the last 15 years was recorded – in the Scottish village of Altnaharra, thermometers dropped to -18.9°C.

Tragic consequences of the severe weather have also been reported in France. In the Nord department, two people lost their lives due to snow and ice.

Earlier, "Telegraph" reported that snowfalls are heading to Ukraine. Soon, some regions will experience significant snowfall.
