On Thursday, February 13, a hearing took place at the Shevchenkivskyi District Court in Lviv regarding the murder case of linguist Irina Farion. Vyacheslav Zinchenko, the suspect in the murder, will not be transferred to a solitary cell, as he had previously requested. This was reported by "Vidomo" citing "Suspilne".
At the beginning of the hearing, Zinchenko submitted two motions: he wishes to be alone in his cell and also requests permission to communicate with his father. He justified his desire for solitary confinement by stating that his cellmates smoke, which makes him uncomfortable as he has "been involved in sports his entire life."
However, the court denied his first motion, though Zinchenko was permitted to communicate with his father.
Sophia Litsa, the daughter of Irina Farion, opposed this. According to her, "all citizens are equal before the law and he cannot have preferential treatment."
She also objected to the suspect communicating with his father since he was questioned as a witness.
As is customary, the courtroom was attended by supporters of Zinchenko wearing shirts with his portrait. A group holding portraits of Irina Farion also came to the court.
In court, Zinchenko stated that he does not admit guilt. He also objected to the civil claim in which Sophia Litsa is seeking 15 million UAH in compensation for her mother's murder.
The court announced a one-month break until February 26.
