In Canada, in the city of Halifax, a passenger plane encountered serious issues during landing. Its wing struck the runway, resulting in part of the aircraft catching fire.
This was reported on December 29 by CBC News. It was noted that the incident involved Air Canada flight 2259, operated by PAL Airlines.
One of the passengers shared that one of the landing gear did not deploy properly during landing.
"The plane started to tilt about 20 degrees to the left, and when that happened, we heard quite a loud noise, similar to a thud, as the wing of the plane began to slide along the runway along with what I assume was the engine," said Nikki Valentine.
The statement did not specify how many people were on board the aircraft. Passengers were evacuated and subsequently taken to a hangar for medical examination.
According to Valentine, the plane had a capacity of about 80 passengers, with approximately 20 rows of seats and two seats on either side of the aisle. She stated that the aircraft was almost fully occupied, and it took about two minutes to disembark all passengers.
Meanwhile, some reports indicated that there were 73 people on board and that no one was injured as a result of the incident.
As a reminder, earlier "Telegraph" reported that in South Korea, a passenger plane from Jeju Air crashed during landing at Muan Airport. Preliminary information suggests that nearly all of the 181 people on board perished.
