In Dnipropetrovsk region, a former border guard will face trial for collaborating with the occupiers (PHOTOS).

A former border guard will be tried in the Dnipropetrovsk region for abandoning his post and starting to work for the Russian occupiers. This was reported by the Special Prosecutor's Office of the Eastern region, as conveyed by "Vідомо".

The investigation established that on March 23, 2022, a 40-year-old senior sergeant failed to report for duty from a medical facility and left the area where he was performing tasks for the border service in the Severodonetsk district of Luhansk region.

"While in the temporarily occupied territory, the former border guard supported the occupation authorities and began collaborating with the aggressor state of the Russian Federation. He voluntarily accepted an offer and took the position of 'inspector' in an illegal law enforcement agency established in the TOT within the 'Department of State Inspection of Safety' 'Belovodsk'," the statement reads.

He is charged with desertion under conditions of martial law and voluntarily taking a position in illegal law enforcement agencies created in the temporarily occupied territory (Part 4 of Article 408, Part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
