The negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, as mentioned in the U.S., will end with concessions from both sides. However, for Kyiv, there are two "red lines" that it cannot cross in this matter.
This opinion was expressed by Ukrainian MP Alexander Merezhko in an interview with OBOZ.UA. According to him, these lines pertain to guarantees of security and Ukraine's territorial integrity.
"The most realistic guarantee of our security is NATO membership. Everything else can be discussed, it seems to me, but again, it should not violate our Constitution and international law," he states.
At the same time, Merezhko does not believe that the Russians will make any concessions. The MP notes that the Kremlin uses negotiations solely as a weapon of war.
"As for the Russians, they fundamentally do not understand the concept of compromise, mutual concessions, or negotiations. Not at all. They do not conduct negotiations; they use them as a tool of warfare. You can only speak to them in the language of strength. They do not comprehend anything else. Therefore, it is naive to simply suggest that there could be any concessions from both sides," the MP believes.
