On the night of January 5, air defense forces and assets were active in several regions of Russia. They were targeted by unidentified unmanned aerial vehicles.
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that over 60 drones were allegedly neutralized in total. They indicated that five regions were under attack.
"37 UAVs were destroyed over the territory of Rostov region, 20 – over the territory of Bryansk region, two – over the territory of Voronezh region, one – over the territory of Belgorod region, and one – over the territory of Oryol region," the statement said.
The governor of this region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, wrote on Telegram that drone strikes occurred in Graivoron and the villages of Gora-Podol and Nizhneye Berezovoye-Drugoе.
As a result, there were damages to buildings and vehicle fires in Graivoron, as well as in the villages of Gora-Podol and Nizhneye Berezovoye-Drugoе. Gladkov stated that no one was injured.
The governor of Rostov region, Yuri Slyusary, stated that the drone attack was "massive."
"During the night, a massive air attack from the enemy was repelled in Rostov region. Since midnight, air defense forces have destroyed 37 UAVs, including in Taganrog, Millerovsky, Tarasovsky, and Belokalitvinsky districts," the statement read.
According to him, due to "debris falling," there were damages to civilian structures in Taganrog and Neklinovsky district, but no one was injured.
Local residents reported numerous explosions, claiming that at least 13 drones were allegedly shot down. However, they confirmed that there were hits on the Millerovo airfield.
Recall that earlier "Telegraph" reported that during the attack on Rostov region on the night of January 5, special attention was given by UAVs to the areas of Taganrog, from where Russian occupiers frequently launch ballistic missiles at Ukraine, as well as Tarasovka and the Millerovo airfield, where Russian aviation is based.
