In Transcarpathia, law enforcement officials discovered a group of conscription-age men attempting to illegally cross the border into Hungary, hiding under a load of sand. This was reported by "Vidimo" referencing GPSU.
The border guards, together with SBU officers and police, uncovered the attempt to illegally cross the border into Hungary. At one of the checkpoints, they stopped a KAMAZ truck heading towards the border. Under the layer of sand, law enforcement found 13 men from nine regions of Ukraine: 3 from Zaporizhzhia, 2 from Lviv, 2 from Kyiv, and one each from Dnipropetrovsk, Chernihiv, Transcarpathian, Kirovohrad, Volyn, and Odesa regions.
The men were trying to illegally leave the country, concealed in a specially designed hiding place beneath the cargo. For this "journey," each of them paid the smugglers between 8,000 to 10,000 dollars.
Law enforcement detained the truck driver and two of his accomplices who assisted in organizing the illegal crossing. Currently, a criminal case has been initiated regarding the illegal transportation of individuals across the state border.
During a series of searches, law enforcement seized funds, 5 vehicles, 3 night vision devices, 3 rifles, and 1 traumatic pistol with expired permits.
The investigation is ongoing.
