Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine detained a 16-year-old agent of Russia who manufactured explosives to attack a police unit in Zhytomyr at the request of Russian special services. This was reported by the press service of the SBU, as conveyed by "Vydomo".
The terrorist act against Ukrainian police officers in Zhytomyr was planned for January 19 of this year. At that time, the SBU apprehended two Russian agents attempting to detonate a police unit that had responded to a call on 102.
The suspect has been detained; she produced two homemade explosive devices (HEDs) at Russia's request, which the enemy tried to use against Zhytomyr police officers. The culprit turned out to be a 16-year-old local resident, who was recruited through a Telegram channel by Russian intelligence.
According to instructions, the girl independently created explosives, one of which she connected to a mobile phone for remote activation. She then concealed them in a hiding place and sent the geolocation to her Russian handler.
Subsequently, based on these coordinates, two terrorists retrieved the HEDs and attempted to detonate them against Ukrainian law enforcement.
After being warned of the impending attack, the suspect "went into hiding," staying with her relatives. She was apprehended in the Berdychiv district.
It has also been established that while evading justice, she received additional orders from Russia to create new HEDs.
During searches at the locations associated with the detainee, components for explosives, "spare" SIM cards for concealment, and a mobile phone with evidence were seized.
Investigators from the SBU informed her of the suspicion under part 2 of article 15 and part 2 of article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (completed attempt to commit a terrorist act by prior agreement of a group of individuals).
The suspect is currently in custody. She faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
