Another attempt by men to escape abroad was uncovered in the border town of Bolshaya Beryoznaya in Transcarpathia, reports "Vydomo" citing the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (GPSU).
They devised an intriguing escape plan for two residents of Kryvyi Rih to Slovakia. The men were dressed in the uniforms of "Ukrzaliznytsia," given a pickaxe and a shovel, and led along the railway tracks towards the border. The idea was for them to pretend to be railway workers inspecting the tracks.
Eventually, the group reached a barrier fence, which the fugitives climbed over, while the smugglers disappeared. The men were instructed to move quickly and to flee upon encountering border guards. However, the border patrol apprehended the fugitives. Subsequently, both smugglers, who turned out to be local residents, were also detained.
The cost of such an adventure for the men has not been disclosed.
