Fish like mackerel or hake are quite popular among home cooks. The former can be marinated or baked, while the latter can be stewed in a delicious marinade, making the dish taste gourmet.

This recipe is for hake in sweet and sour sauce, shared on the Instagram page "_fil.anna_".

How to Prepare Fish in Sweet and Sour Sauce

Ingredients:

  • hake – 1 kg;
  • flour;
  • onion – 1 pc;
  • bell pepper – 1 pc;

Ingredients for the Marinade (200 ml cup):

  • water – 1 cup;
  • sugar – 1 cup;
  • oil – ½ cup;
  • tomato sauce – 400 g;
  • vinegar – ½ cup;
  • salt;
  • pepper;
  • favorite spices;

Cooking Method:

1. Rinse the fish, pat it dry, and cut it into small pieces.

2. Dredge the fish in flour and fry until golden brown on both sides.

3. Thinly slice the onion and bell pepper.

4. Layer in a pot: onion/pepper – fish – onion/pepper – fish.

5. Prepare the marinade by mixing water, sugar, vegetable oil, tomato sauce, salt, and spices.

6. Add vinegar and bring to a boil again.

7. Pour the hot marinade over the fish and let it cool completely at room temperature.

8. Refrigerate overnight.
