A scandal has erupted around the Happy Family nursing home in Kyiv due to the negligent treatment of patients by the staff.
This was reported in one of the capital's Facebook communities by resident Yulia Yurkovа. The woman is caring for her ill mother, who has been diagnosed with dementia. Before being placed in this nursing home, her mother was in another facility, but due to the distance, she was transferred there.
Initially, according to Yulia, there were no signs of trouble — she claims the staff behaved appropriately and showed her the conditions in which her mother would be kept. However, later on, she felt it was merely a "public relations stunt."
On the day of her mother's arrival at the facility, Yulia had to wait half an hour behind closed gates. But that wasn't the main issue, she says. The place was cold, "like a freezer," and the staff actually behaved inappropriately towards the patients, even allowing themselves to hit them and being rude to relatives over the phone.
Additionally, Yulia was very alarmed by the varying amounts charged for the care at the facility. She urged others to be more careful when choosing nursing homes.
"Happy Family" is located in the Sofiivska Borshchahivka area at: 51/54 Travneva Street.
