SpaceX lost its Starship spacecraft during the seventh test flight. Communication with the spacecraft was interrupted 9 minutes after launch.

This was reported by SpaceX's senior quality systems development manager, Kate Tice, according to CNBC.

The launch took place from the Starbase facility in Texas. The spacecraft was carrying a payload simulating 10 next-generation Starlink satellites.

The first phase of the flight was successful—the "Super Heavy" rocket booster landed on the launch pad. However, the upper stage of the spacecraft exploded during re-entry into the atmosphere. Debris fell into the Atlantic Ocean.

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration even had to temporarily alter the flight paths of several flights over the Caribbean, including those of JetBlue, Spirit, and FedEx. No injuries or property damage have been reported.

Elon Musk identified the preliminary cause of the accident. It was an oxygen and fuel leak in the fireproof engine baffle. According to him, the pressure exceeded the capabilities of the ventilation system.

However, commentators have their own version of events. They are posting videos showing that the rocket was not intact even before launch.

Due to the explosion of the upper stage, Elon Musk lost millions of dollars. However, the exact amount has not been disclosed. In fact, the cost of the Starship rocket remains a secret. For comparison, launching a smaller Falcon 9 rocket costs clients $62 million.

Additionally, earlier, the Telegraph reported that Trump and Musk attended the Starship rocket launch together. Musk spent two weeks at Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate, but now it seems it's Musk's turn to host the president.
