Charming newlyweds and countless skiers: a glimpse into a beloved Ukrainian resort from 90 years ago.

Today, Slavsk is one of the most renowned ski resorts in Ukraine, attracting thousands of tourists each year with its picturesque landscapes and modern infrastructure for winter recreation. However, it's intriguing to look back and discover what this settlement was like nearly 90 years ago.

The winter of 1937 blanketed the resort village of Slavsk in Lviv region with a soft layer of snow, transforming it into a fairy-tale winter wonderland. Nestled amidst scenic mountains, this village was already celebrated as one of the most popular ski resorts. "Telegraf" invites you to view unique photos that capture the atmosphere of that time when snow-covered streets and wooden houses became part of a winter fairy tale. Old photographs of the village were shared in the Facebook group "History of Ukraine in Retro Photos".

In the 1930s, Slavsk served as the administrative center of the eponymous commune, lending the village special significance in the region. Its architecture featured wooden and stone houses with typical Hutsul architectural elements.

One of the key elements of the village's infrastructure was the railway station. Slavsk had convenient connections to larger cities, as suburban trains and most long-distance trains made stops here. The train, halting in this small yet highly popular resort, brought skiers heading to the Carpathian slopes to test their skills at one of Ukraine's first ski centers.

Among the photographs preserved from that time, you can see local residents in front of their homes, newlyweds in wedding attire, and vacationers skiing.
