The cost of food products in Ukraine is gradually increasing, yet some still wonder why prices are lower in neighboring European countries. For instance, in Poland, one liter of milk costs around 30 UAH, while in Ukraine, it ranges from 40 to 50 UAH.

"Telegraph" will explain the price differences and the reasons behind them. For comparison, we will look at milk from "Silpo" and from the Polish supermarket Carrefour.

It’s worth noting that Polish stores typically sell milk in precise 1-liter bottles, whereas in Ukraine, bottles range from 950 to 800 ml.

Analyzing the prices, it becomes evident that milk in Poland is cheaper by approximately 15-20 UAH, influenced by one significant factor: the value-added tax (VAT). In Poland, this tax is 5%, while in Ukraine, it stands at 20%. This disparity is the primary reason for the price differences in most products.
