Last year, the Orthodox Church of Ukraine adopted a new calendar, which means that the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord is now celebrated on January 6. However, many continue to observe it according to the old style — on January 19.
The Baptism of the Lord, or Epiphany, is one of the greatest feasts of the Christian church. This day commemorates the event when Jesus Christ was baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist, revealing to the world the Holy Trinity: God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
The main ritual of this day is the Great Water Blessing — a church service after which the water is deemed holy. The blessed water is considered healing and is used for sanctifying homes, prayers, and healing. Many believers partake in immersion in the blessed ice holes, symbolizing spiritual purification and renewal.
"Telegraph" has prepared a selection of themed postcards for this occasion, which you can send to your loved ones and friends. Wish them good health, peace, and family well-being!
3Happy Baptism of the Lord! Wishing you love, prosperity, peace, and warmth of the soul. May your home, heart, and life be filled with abundance, and may the blessed water wash away sadness, worries, and grievances. I wish that bright hope never lets your wings droop and that good faith always gives you strength.
4Congratulations on the bright holiday of the Baptism of the Lord! May the pure, blessed water wash away all troubles, sorrows, and illnesses. May it bring you strong health and clarity of thought, so that your life is happy and joyful.
5May your health be as strong as the frosts of Baptism, may the pure water wash away all sadness and grief, and may the bright light of hope and love illuminate your soul and heart! Happy Baptism!
6On this holiday, Baptism, I want to congratulate you and wish that your soul is pure and your thoughts noble.
7Christ is baptized! Congratulations on this significant church holiday. May your family be free from troubles, may God protect you, and may there be peace in your home and warmth in your heart!
