Russia regularly targets Ukraine's railway infrastructure. Unfortunately, these strikes often result in the deaths of workers in this sector. Moreover, many railway workers are currently defending their homeland with weapons in hand. As a result, the number of fatalities among "Ukrzaliznytsia" employees has already reached hundreds since the onset of the war.
This information was shared with "Telegraph" by representatives of "Ukrzaliznytsia". In the official response to the publication's inquiry, the company stated that as of February 24, 2022, a total of 790 railway workers have lost their lives.

However, "Ukrzaliznytsia" did not specify how many of these employees died on the front lines, how many at their workplaces, and how many simply while off duty in the rear.
They noted that more detailed information on this matter would be available only after the state of martial law is lifted.
