Due to the constant rise in mobile communication service prices, Ukrainian pensioners are finding it increasingly difficult to pay their operator bills. Many receive a minimal pension that barely covers expenses for utilities, medications, and food, making mobile communication costs an additional financial burden.
The standard rates from Ukrainian operators currently start at 200–300 UAH per month, which is a significant amount for many pensioners. Some are forced to give up mobile Internet or look for alternative options to reduce expenses. However, some mobile operators offer discounted rates or additional savings for elderly individuals.
Kyivstar has a tariff plan called LOVE UA Comfort for people aged 60 and older, as well as for individuals with disabilities of groups I–III, where for 140 UAH/month, unlimited calls within the network, 60 SMS, and 6 GB of mobile Internet are available. You can activate the plan at the nearest Kyivstar store with a passport/ID card and identification code. For individuals with disabilities, additional identification with disability status or a medical certificate specifying the group of disability is required.
Vodafone does not have special rates, but claims that the cheapest package, Turbo, with promotional pricing, will cost 100 UAH/month. The operator offers packages with unlimited calls within the network and beyond. There is a promotion for subscribers switching from other networks.
Lifecell currently offers the most advantageous rate "Potuzhny" for 150 UAH/month. This is also available only for subscribers who have ported their number. They promise unlimited Internet and calls within the network.
Earlier, "Telegraph" reported that the pension tariff from Kyivstar elicited mixed reactions from Ukrainians. The reason is that elderly individuals must come to the store themselves to arrange for the connection.
