The last branch of "Ukrposhta" is closing in frontline Pokrovsk. What is the current situation in the city?

All the children from the city have already been evacuated.
В Покровске, расположенном у фронта, закрывается последнее отделение "Укрпочты". Какова текущая обстановка в городе?

In the city of Pokrovsk, located in the Donetsk region, which is being surrounded by Russian forces, "Ukrposhta" will close its last branch on January 15. Only two pharmacies and a few grocery stores remain operational here.

Approximately 7,200 residents still live in Pokrovsk, who are regularly urged to evacuate. This information was reported by Vadim Filashkin, the head of the Donetsk regional military administration.

According to him, enemy troops are rapidly approaching, with the distance from the front line to the city being about 3 kilometers. Pokrovsk is almost constantly under artillery fire, as well as from KABs and FPV drones. There is also a complete lack of electricity, water, and gas in the area.

Local residents rely on water wells, generators, and a few "Invincibility Points" for survival. Restoring electricity supply is currently impossible.

People are being urged to evacuate, and a specific plan has been developed for this purpose. All children from Pokrovsk have already been evacuated.

According to the DeepState map, Russian forces are already located just a few kilometers from the city. However, it seems likely that they do not intend to storm the city directly but will focus on the roads leading to Pokrovsk.

This scenario is considered the most probable by some military experts, as attempts to advance towards Pokrovsk "head-on" from Lisovka and Krasny Yar have not been successful, but the capture of Selidovo has opened up opportunities for the Russian army to flank Pokrovsk from the southwest.

Analysts believe that surrounding Pokrovsk will not be feasible for the Russian army in the coming months. This is because creating a so-called buffer zone around the city would require significant advances not only on the eastern and western flanks of Pokrovsk but also the occupation of Myrnohrad and encircling Pokrovsk from the north.

Nevertheless, if the Russian army cannot encircle Pokrovsk, flanking it from the western side is a more realistic objective. Experts claim that advanced units of the Russian army have been redeployed here for this purpose.

They are actively attacking in the areas of Pyschany and Shevchenko, trying to push the front line as close to Pokrovsk as possible to prepare for a city assault.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian General Staff reports that over the past day, on January 8, our defenders halted 42 assault actions by the aggressor near the settlements of Myrolyubivka, Baranivka, Yelizavetivka, Lisovka, Zelenoe, Zverovo, Novyi Trud, Kotlyno, and Nadievka.
