A fire erupted in downtown Kyiv, sending thick smoke into the sky (video) - updated.

On the morning of Wednesday, January 15, a fire broke out in Kyiv. An electrical substation caught fire on Khreshchatyk Street, 15.

This information was reported on the Telegram channel of the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA). Relevant services are currently working at the scene.

Update 9:06 The KCSA informed that the fire at the electrical substation on Khreshchatyk has been localized. Residents of four apartment buildings are temporarily without electricity. Power is expected to be restored to consumers within approximately four hours.

"A DTEK team is expected to arrive to gain access for firefighting efforts," the message states.

The Telegram channel "Trukha Kyiv" published a video from the scene. The footage shows thick clouds of smoke rising into the sky from the site of the fire. At the time of this news publication, there is no information regarding the cause of the fire.

As reported by "Telegraph," in late December, a car caught fire in the Sviatoshynskyi district of Kyiv following an explosion. Rescuers and medics arrived at the scene.

We also reported that on January 2, a fire occurred in a five-story residential building on Ivan and Yuriy Lip Street in the Khadyzhbey district of Odesa. A washing machine caught fire in an apartment on the 3rd floor, reportedly after an explosion. As a result of the incident, an interior wall was destroyed, and the walls of two adjacent apartments were damaged. A 13-year-old boy was injured.
