In 1978, director Georgy Yungvald-Khilkevich from the Odessa Film Studio began creating a three-part musical based on the famous novel by French writer Alexandre Dumas — "The Three Musketeers," which is banned from being shown in Ukraine due to pro-Putin actors.
For the majority of the Parisian scenes, Lviv was chosen as the filming location. Even today, not all native Lviv residents would immediately recognize the streets of their hometown.
The Bernardine Monastery was built in 1620. It is in the monastery's courtyard that d'Artagnan encounters Count Rochefort and the cardinal's guards in the town of Meung on the Loire while heading to Paris.

4 5The main filming locations included various spots in the ancient town and village of Svirzh, located 44 kilometers from Lviv in the Peremyshliany district. This village is famous for its 17th-century castle, which first appears in the film during the scene of d'Artagnan's farewell to his father.
6 7D'Artagnan arrives at the residence of Captain de Tréville to join the royal musketeers. This role is played by the Potocki Palace on Kopernika Street, where the musketeers also hold their training sessions.
8 9The triple duel of d'Artagnan with Athos, Porthos, and Aramis takes place in Paris, near the Deschamps Monastery. In Lviv, the courtyard of the Armenian Cathedral served as the French monastery.
0This is one of the oldest buildings in the city. The open arcade-gallery next to the southern wall of the church was constructed in 1437.
1The residence of Richelieu in Paris was portrayed by the House of Scientists, located at 6 Novembers Street in Lviv. In the photo below, you can also spot a cinematic error — electric lights did not exist in the 17th century.

4 5When d'Artagnan first arrives in Paris, we see 5 Snezhna Street in Lviv, which houses the shop of the haberdasher Bonacieux, as well as the home of the future love interest of the musketeer — Constance.
6 7This became the setting for the Paris City Hall, where the ball with the Marseilles Ballet took place. It was here that d'Artagnan fought his way through with the queen's pendants to deliver them to Anna of Austria.
