In Dnipropetrovsk region, illegal fishermen caused the state a loss of 21 million hryvnias.

From January 1 to December 31, 2024, the fishing patrol in Dnipropetrovsk conducted 3,560 raids on water bodies and markets in the region. As a result of these operations, 2,718 violations were uncovered, 553 of which were serious offenses. This information was reported by "Vidomo," citing the Dnipropetrovsk Fish Protection Patrol.

"During this period, a total of 219,045 UAH in fines were imposed on offenders. The total amount of damage calculated is 21,373,910 UAH. In the course of these operations, inspectors seized 5,083 kg of illegally harvested aquatic biological resources. Of this amount, 3,321 kg were from water bodies, 700 kg were for illegal acquisition or sale, and another 1,062 kg were classified as abandoned property. Additionally, 1,220 units of prohibited fishing gear were confiscated," – stated Vasily Volkov, head of the Fish Protection Patrol.

The Dnipropetrovsk Fish Protection Patrol urges citizens to act responsibly and comply with the requirements of current environmental protection legislation.
