An ammonia leak in Kryvyi Rih has caused over 200 million hryvnias in damage to the state.

In Kryvyi Rih, an official will be prosecuted for negligence that resulted in environmental pollution.

For two years, a 53-year-old employee of a communal enterprise in the Ingulec district of Kryvyi Rih carried out his official duties in violation of the law, leading to environmental pollution, as reported by "Vydomo" with reference to the Main Directorate of the National Police in Dnipropetrovsk Region.

The suspect failed to monitor the condition of the networks and did not carry out repairs on the company's sewage pipes, resulting in ammonia leaking into the wastewater and subsequent soil contamination.

Employees of the ecological inspection of Dnipropetrovsk region recorded the violations, and an engineering-ecological examination confirmed the contamination of the land plots.

Through his actions, the official caused property damage to the state amounting to 202 million hryvnias.

Investigators informed the man of the suspicion under part 1 of Article 239 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – pollution or damage to land, and under part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – official negligence. Currently, the indictment has been sent to the court.
