The court proceedings regarding the case of Tatyana Patinka, who was involved in a tragic incident on Mazepa Avenue, have concluded in the city of Dnipro. On December 17, 2024, the Dnipro Lenin Court held hearings during which charges against the 23-year-old woman were examined. She was accused of resisting a law enforcement officer, which constitutes a violation under part 2 of Article 342 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This was reported by "Vidomo" citing Dnipro Operational.
During the trial, patrol police officers demanded a sentence for Patinka. They insisted that the court impose a one-year prison sentence and also recover damages from her amounting to 326,714.8 hryvnias. This amount was determined as compensation for the costs incurred by law enforcement due to the incident caused by the defendant.
The prosecutor, representing the state prosecution, proposed a lighter punishment to the court — a two-year restriction of freedom. This suggestion was based on the fact that, although Patinka's actions were unlawful, they did not result in severe consequences, and the court could take these mitigating circumstances into account.
Ultimately, the court issued a verdict - Tatyana Patinka was sentenced to three years of probation supervision. This means she will be under the control of the probation service and will be required to comply with certain conditions, such as regular meetings with a probation officer and refraining from further offenses.
Additionally, the police were denied their claim for compensation for damages. This decision may be related to the court not finding sufficient grounds to satisfy the requirements for monetary compensation.
It is important to note that both parties have the right to appeal.
