A high-profile arrest took place in Pavlograd - a former police officer, who left the Dnipropetrovsk region to cover his tracks and evade potential danger, was apprehended while attempting to acquire a shipment of methadone. This information was reported by "Vydomo" citing the Dnipropetrovsk police.
The scandal involves two former law enforcement officers linked to the organization of a drug network operating in both the Donetsk and Lviv regions.
According to the prosecutor's office, one of the detained individuals was caught red-handed while receiving another batch of drugs in Pavlograd. The second suspect was arrested at his permanent residence.
One of the key aspects was the use of postal services by the criminals - one of them sent a package containing drugs through a postal carrier, disguising it as regular household appliances. Upon receiving the parcel, an accomplice would divide the drugs into doses and arrange their sale through so-called "drops" — a method where drugs are hidden in public places accessible to clients.
The sales process was meticulously planned: after receiving a payment notification from the client, the drug dealers would send them a screenshot with a map indicating the exact location of the drop.
The men were informed of their suspicion regarding the illegal acquisition, storage, transportation, mailing, and distribution of narcotic substances, committed repeatedly, in conspiracy with a group of individuals. The crime is classified under part 2 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
