A junior sergeant and combat medic has been arrested in Pavlograd, accused of taking a hostage and threatening to kill her. The incident occurred on January 4, 2025, around 14:55 in a building designated for the temporary accommodation of military personnel. The suspect, who was drafted into military service as part of mobilization, attacked a medical point sanitary instructor, also a junior sergeant. This information was reported by "Vydomo" citing "Behemoth".
The combat medic approached the woman from behind. Holding a utility knife to her neck, he threatened to cut her throat, demanding absolute obedience and an unhindered exit from the building.
Having taken the woman hostage, the junior sergeant headed towards the checkpoint, demanding that the guards open the metal door equipped with remote control. During negotiations with the checkpoint staff, the suspect unexpectedly changed tactics. He stopped threatening with the knife and released the hostage.
The suspect was apprehended immediately after the woman was freed.
The crime, recorded in the Unified Register of Pretrial Investigations under Article 349 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (hostage-taking), carries extremely serious consequences. The man faces up to 15 years in prison, reflecting the severity of the committed crime.
